1.) 1970 Dodge Charger

The supercharged, jet-black Dodge Charger driven by the antiheroic Dominic Toretto is as much a signature of the Fast & Furious franchise as Vin Diesel or The Rock. Appearing in four of the eight main films, the car has a biblical power output of 900hp and can dispatch a quarter-mile drag in just nine seconds.

2.) Nissan Skyline GT-R R34

Brian O’Conner’s Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 from 2 Fast 2 Furious left a lasting impact on the franchise, famously winning a street race that included jumping an opening bridge. Although that particular example of the iconic twin-turbo Nissan only appears in the one film, as our hero Brian is back behind the wheel of an R34 in Fast & Furious (the annoyingly-titled fourth film). On that occasion, he uses a blue Skyline GT-R for street racing and drug smuggling before it gets blown up at the climax of the film. Oh, umm… spoilers?

3.) 1994 Toyota Supra Mk IV

The iconic Toyota Supra initially appears in the first film as a rusted model hauled straight from a scrap dealer’s. However, it is subsequently revitalised to become only one of the most beloved cars in the whole franchise, holding its own in multiple high-speed chases. It is the steed that Toretto rides off in to evade the police after O’Conner throws him the keys at the end of a climactic drag race. A white Supra also makes a cameo appearance in Furious 7.

4.) 1967 Ford Mustang Fastback

Appearing in the third film, Tokyo Drift, the 1967 Ford Mustang is main protagonist Sean Boswell’s vehicle of choice in taking on the Japanese ‘Drift King’, Takashi. Its pivotal role in the film’s climax, beating Sean’s previously unbeaten rival, has made it a long-time fan favourite. This is even despite the building of it involving what some would see as sacrilege: swapping out the original car’s Ford V8 for a twin-turbocharged, straight-six from a Nissan Skyline. .) 1970 Ford Escort Mk I

The 1970 Ford Escort is a plucky underdog, somehow standing out in a franchise filled to the brim with souped-up supercars. With its rally car performance and styling, it was a major part of one of Fast & Furious 6’s biggest action scenes, joining a 1969 Mustang in taking on a freaking tank! Astonishingly, it survived being blown up and/or crushed in its big action sequence, sustaining only some light cosmetic damage.

6.) 1971 Nissan Skyline GT-R Hakosuka 

The classic Nissan Skyline GT-R ‘Hakosuka’ was the first car to wear the legendary GT-R badge. It’s also one of the first cars seen in Fast & Furious 5. After Toretto’s crew assault his prison bus, O’Conner heads to Rio in this classic coupe to escape the law. This is not a car for chase scenes, though. Although its 2.0-litre, straight-six engine makes a famously spine-tingling noise, it only produces 160hp, so it’s not explosively fast.

7.) 2003 Honda (Acura) NSX

The Honda NSX (known in the United States as the Acura NSX) appears prominently in two Fast & Furious films, the fourth and fifth instalments of the franchise. Driven by Mia Toretto, the black car is rear-wheel drive and powered by a gutsy V6 engine. As an icon of Japanese sports car engineering during the 80s and 90s, the original NSX certainly deserves its starring role in the two films.

8.) 2012 Lexus LF-A

One of the most contemporary cars to appear in Fast & Furious is the 2012 Lexus LF-A. It’s only the briefest of cameos, but the high-tech Japanese supercar does get a few moments of screen time at the end of the fifth film. Driven by Han Seoul-Oh, its bonnet hides a screaming, 4.8-litre V10 engine.

9.) 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VII

The Mitsubishi Lancer has a lot of screentime as one of the major cars of 2 Fast 2 Furious, being driven by both O’Conner and Tej Parker. Its heavy usage and bright (almost ostentatious) colour scheme have made it one of Fast & Furious’s most memorable vehicles.

10.) 1993 Mazda RX-7 (Veilside)

The FD-generation Mazda RX-7 is a striking-looking beauty in standard form. With the wild Veilside Fortune bodykit as worn by Seoul-Oh’s example in Tokyo Drift, it’s almost impossibly exotic. Almost. In true Fast & Furious style, both car and driver meet a fiery end after being rammed by a Mercedes that – it is revealed several films later – was being driven by future series regular Deckard Shaw.
